SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Tuesday announced 1,471 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 19 additional confirmed deaths.

Local case breakdown:

• Jackson County: 16
• Williamson County: nine
• Johnson County: five
• Franklin, Hamilton and Saline counties: three each
• Union County: one
• All cases are in isolation.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 184,712 cases, including 7,545 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from July 28-August 3 is 3.9 percent.
