SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Tuesday announced 1,549 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 20 additional confirmed death.
Williamson County reported a single-day high in new confirmed COVID-19 cases with 32. A death was additionally reported due to the virus, bringing the county’s total to six.
Local case breakdown:
- Williamson County: 32, one death
- Jackson County: 10
- Franklin and Johnson counties: four each
- Pope, Saline, Perry and Union counties: two each
- Massac County: one
- All cases are in isolation.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 196,948 cases, including 7,657 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from August 4-10 is 4.1 percent.
