Veterans Airport to Receive Over $1M in Federal Grant

MARION – Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois (VASI) is set to receive more than one million dollars as the federal government has released 1.2 billion dollars in airport safety and infrastructure grants.

According to a release Wednesday from the Federal Aviation Administration, VASI will receive 1.3 million dollars as part of the 2020 AIP Program. The grant money will be intended for runway and taxiway repair, airport signage, airport lighting, and airport markings.

The release says that the grants will “strengthen our nation’s aviation infrastructure.”
