HARDIN COUNTY – The Cave-in-Rock Ferry resumed service Friday following a brief closure due to a mechanical issue.

According to a release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, service was halted at around 7:45 a.m. when a water pump failure on the barge’s main engine was discovered. Following a replacement, services resumed around 8:50 a.m.

The Cave-in-Rock Ferry connects Illinois Route 1 with Kentucky 91 from Hardin County to Crittenden County via the Ohio River and carries roughly 500 vehicles across each day.
