Jonesboro Man Charged for Solicitation of a Minor

JONESBORO – A Jonesboro man has been charged in Union County for attempted solicitation of a minor.

According to Union County State’s Attorney Daniel Klingemann and Union County Sheriff Scott Harvel, Harold Thomas Goerz, a.k.a. Harry T. Goetz, was charged with one county of indecent solicitation of a child – a Class 2 felony, one count of traveling to meet a minor – a Class 3 felony, one county of solicitation to meet a minor – a Class 4 felony and one count of grooming – also a Class 4 felony.

Goetz is charged with attempting to meet with a person he believed to be a child under the age of 14 years for the purpose of sexual gratification. Goetz was arrested Sept. 10 following an extensive investigation by Union County Sheriff’s Detective Bart Hileman with assistance of KTS Predator Hunters.

He’s being held in the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro on $50,000 bond and set to appear in Union County Court in Jonesboro for a preliminary hearing Friday, Oct. 2 at 10:30 a.m.
