METROPOLIS – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) said lane reductions will be in effect this week on I-24 over the Ohio River at Metropolis for construction work.
The lane reductions began Sunday night and will continue through Thursday morning. IDOT said the contractor will work nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Work includes hot mix asphalt patches, partial depth patches and pavement markings and is expected to be completed Oct. 30.
IDOT advised motorists to reduce speed, be alert to equipment and workers and use extreme caution while traveling through all work zones. To avoid any delays, drivers should seek an alternate route. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work zone as quickly as possible.
