COVID-19 Hospitalizations Up Across Region, New Cases Reported

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Wednesday reported 6,110 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 51 additional deaths. Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 389,095 cases, including 9,619 deaths, in 102 counties statewide.

According to a Facebook post from Southern Illinois Healthcare, COVID-19 hospitalizations have risen with cases throughout the region, largely stemming from the community.

  • Williamson County: 40
  • Jackson County: 38
  • Franklin County: 32, one death at a long-term care facility
  • Perry County: 15
  • Saline County: 12
  • Jefferson County: 11
  • Johnson County: nine
  • Hamilton County: six
  • Union County: five
  • Alexander and White counties: three each
  • Gallatin and Massac counties: two each
  • Hardin County: one

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests from Oct. 21-27 is 6.7 percent.
