MT. VERNON – SSM Health in Illinois announced Thursday it’s suspending visits throughout its care sites Friday, including Good Samaritan and St. Mary’s Hospitals.
The organization said the restrictions are necessary due to an increase in the spread of COVID-19 throughout the communities and in effort to promote the safety of their patients, employees and the community.
No visitors will be allowed except under certain circumstances, including end-of-life situations and when a visitor is essential for the patient’s emotional well-being and care. Obstetrics patients will be allowed one person to offer support. COVID and patients under investigation for COVID will still be under a strict, no visitors policy. The clinics and ER’s will allow one-two parents or guardians for pediatric patients based upon the care environment.
