Carmi Man Sentenced Nine Years on Meth Charge

CARMI – A Carmi man was sentenced Monday in White County to nine years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver – a Class 1 felony.

White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud said 50-year-old Michael W. French will also serve two years of mandatory supervised released following his time in prison. French was also ordered to pay court costs.

Aud noted French was arrested in October after officers of the Carmi Police Department executed a search warrant at his house. In pleading guilty, French admitted to possessing between five and 15 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver it.

He was on probation for a separate methamphetamine offense at the time of his arrest.
