Two Seriously Injured in Perry County Crash Thursday

PINCKNEYVILLE – Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in Perry County.

According to Illinois State Police, 24-year-old Devin Burton of Pinckneyville was driving his SUV east on Illinois 152 a quarter-mile east of Shady Oaks Road as 38-year-old Mario Dolce of Cutler and 53-year-old Walter Meeks of Percy were both stopped in their vehicles eastbound at a road construction red light at the same location.

Burton failed to slow down and struck the rear of Dolce’s SUV, forcing it off the right side of the road. Burton continued east and struck the rear of Meeks’ vehicle. Burton spun around and came to rest facing west in the westbound lane of traffic.

Burton and Dolce were taken by ambulance to a regional hospital with serious injuries. Meeks was not injured.

Burton was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
