Three Deaths Among 35 New COVID-19 Cases Across Region Tuesday

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Tuesday reported 2,404 new COVID-19 cases in Illinois, including 17 additional deaths. Three deaths due to the virus and 35 new cases were reported among southern Illinois health departments.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,241,993 cases, including 21,273 deaths.

Local case breakdown:

  • Williamson County: 11
  • Jackson County: seven
  • Saline County: four, two deaths
  • Franklin County: four, one death
  • Perry County: three
  • Jefferson and Pope counties: two each
  • White and Hardin counties: one each

The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from March 23-29 is 3.9%.

A total of 6,638,865 doses of vaccine have been delivered to providers statewide, including Chicago. In addition, approximately 414,900 doses total have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities, bringing the total state doses to 7,053,765.

A total of 5,664,426 vaccines have been administered so far, including 367,706 for long-term care facilities. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 105,040 doses. On Monday, 86,812 doses were reported administered.
