CARBONDALE – Carbondale police are investigating an early Sunday morning shooting that sent three people to the hospital.
According to police press release, officers responded around 2:45 a.m. Sunday to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of West Cherry Street. When officers arrived, they reportedly found three gunshot victims near a party being held in vacant residence.
All three victims were taken to SIH Memorial Hospital. Two were treated and released for minor injuries. A third victim, who suffered serious wounds, required immediate treatment but an ambulance dispatched to the scene was delayed due to other emergency calls.
Officers reportedly located a vehicle and asked its owner to use it so they could take the victim to the hospital. The vehicle owner agreed and officers drove the victim to the hospital.
There is no information on any suspects to provide at this time, police said.
