WEST FRANKOFRT – The West Frankfort Police Department will be joining the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force.
At Tuesday night’s West Frankfort City Council meeting, a multijurisdictional task force interagency agreement between the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force and the police department was approved.
The mission of the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force is to enforce the law and protect citizens from illegal activity including the trafficking of narcotics and dangerous drugs.
West Frankfort will join Illinois State Police along with police departments from West City, Carmi, Zeigler, Sesser, Christopher and Metropolis along with sheriff’s departments from Franklin, Saline and White counties and the Massac County and Hardin County State’s Attorney offices who all make up the task force.
West Frankfort Police officer Clint Willis will serve on the task force.
