SALINE COUNTY – Two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident in Saline County Monday morning.
According to Illinois State Police, 24-year-old Kaylin Potts of Harrisburg was traveling east on Sloan Street approaching Route 45 in Harrisburg shortly before 8 a.m. She stopped at a red light with Route 45, then proceeded through the red stop light, striking a semi with trailer driven by 33-year-old Christopher Summers of Jackson, MO. Potts then continued and struck another vehicle driven by 29-year-old Ian Dewitt of Makanda, who was traveling west on Sloan Street and was stopped at Route 45 waiting to turn right.
Potts was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries. Dewitt was taken by the Harrisburg Police Department to an area hospital with minor injuries. Summers and a passenger in Dewitt’s vehicle, 54-year-old Jon Dewitt of Dongola, were not injured.
Potts was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.
