Southern Illinois Health Depts. Report 40 New COVID-19 Cases

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Thursday reported 3,170 new COVID-19 cases in Illinois, including 33 additional deaths. Among southern Illinois health departments, 40 new cases of coronavirus were reported throughout the region.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,312,722 cases, including 21,755 deaths. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from April 15-21 is 4.4%.

Local case breakdown:

  • Saline and Jackson counties: nine each
  • Williamson County: eight
  • Jefferson and Johnson counties: four each
  • Franklin and White counties: two each
  • Gallatin and Alexander counties: one each

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Illinois is 10,581,985. A total of 8,473,953 vaccines have been administered so far in Illinois. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 123,078 doses. On Wednesday, 131,411 doses were reported administered in Illinois.
