SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Illinois is losing a seat in Congress.
Preliminary data from the 2020 U.S. Census indicates that the number of Illinois members in the U.S. House of Representatives will drop from 18 to 17. Republican Rep. Avery Bourne of Morrisonville says this isn’t surprising.
Bourne added the census data shows the need for more pro-business policies in Illinois and for fair political boundaries to be drawn.
Illinois is one of seven states that will have less representation in D.C. States gaining a seat include Texas, Florida, Colorado and North Carolina.
