SPRINGFIELD (IOCI RADIO) – Illinois Comptroller Susan Mendoza says the state’s bill backlog is now under control.
The once more than $16 billion of bills has been reduced to $3.5 billion putting Illinois on a more reasonable, 30-day payment cycle, according to Mendoza.
She added the state accomplished the feat with “diligent daily cash management and a steady revenue stream, even during the pandemic.”
She urged the legislature to “pass a balanced budget this spring that doesn’t depend on federal relief money.”
