METROPOLIS – Road work will cause lane reductions on US 45 in Metropolis starting Monday, weather permitting.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), starting at 7 a.m. Monday, road construction will begin on US 45 from just north of I-24 to the intersection of 10th and Ferry streets that will require lane closures. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and controlled by flaggers.
Work includes pavement patching, asphalt surface removal, asphalt paving and pavement markings. IDOT advised drivers to use caution in the area and watch out for equipment and workers. To avoid any delays, seek another route.
