VIENNA/METROPOLIS – A section of I-24 in Johnson and Massac County will be shut down tonight and Wednesday night for emergency pavement patching.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), eastbound I-24 from milepost 16 at Viennato milepost 37 in Metropolis will be closed starting at 8 tonight until 7 Wednesday morning and from 8 Wednesday night until 7 Thursday morning, weather permitting.

Traffic on eastbound I-24 should use Illinois 146 to Illinois 145, then Illinois 145 to the US 45/I-24 Metropolis Interchange.

IDOT asked drivers to use alternate routes, reduce speed, be alert to equipment and workers and use extreme caution while traveling through all work zones.
