Texas Man Dies in Three-Vehicle I-64 Crash

JEFFERSON COUNTY – A Texas man died in a three-vehicle crash on I-64 in Jefferson County early Saturday morning.

According to Illinois State Police (ISP), around 2:23 a.m. a SUV driven by a 27-year-old man from Kingwood, TX was driving west in the eastbound lanes on I-64 at milepost 81.5 when he sideswiped a pickup truck driven by 42-year-old Robert W. Allison of Fairfield, continuing west and then striking and sideswiping a semi driven by 37-year-old Tonya L. Lovette of Albany, GA.

The SUV rolled and ran off the roadway into the center grass median. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroner.

Allison and his passenger, 18-year-old Lauren M. Schultz of Carmi, were both taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. Lovette was not injured.
