WILLIAMSON COUNTY – A Freeman Spur man has been arrested for Aggravated Battery of a Child.
According to Illinois State Police, on Monday Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 7 was requested by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Children and Family Services to lead the investigation into serious injuries received by a one-month-old child at a home in Freeman Spur. The child had subsequently been taken to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.
After a thorough investigation, the child’s father, 23-year-old Joseph Matthew Myers, was taken into custody Tuesday evening and charged with Aggravated Battery of a Child – a Class X felony.
Myers is currently being held in the Williamson County Jail in Marion pending a bond hearing.
The ISP DCI – Zone 7 investigation remains open and ongoing and is being assisted by ISP Crime Scene Services.
