Positive Trends, But Less Confidence in Restaurant Industry

A report shows there are positive trends improving the restaurant industry, but waning consumer confidence could impact long-term rebuilding.

The National Restaurant Association released its mid-year State of the Restaurant Industry update, and finding workers continues to be an issue, according to Hudson Riehle, senior vice president of research.

The full-service segment is down 11 percent from pre-pandemic employment levels.

Joe Wargo, co-owner of Joe’s Station House Pizza Pub in Normal, said he believed it will take “some time” for the industry to rebound from the pandemic.

Nineteen percent of those surveyed said they completely stopped going out to restaurants.
