SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (IOCI RADIO) – Gov. JB Pritzker signed an executive order Monday ensuring people with disabilities working for a state vendor are paid a fair wage.
The requires the workers to be paid at least the minimum, eliminating the sub-wage pay some currently receive. The governor said it’s about equality and dignity, and won’t hurt employees.
Pritzker said more than 80% of state contracts already pay individuals with disabilities at least the minimum wage.
