ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Although the forecast still doesn’t indicate it, the National Weather Service in St. Louis warned of a possible winter storm on New Year’s Eve and Day on Friday night and Saturday.
The NWS said a winter storm is expected to develop and move across the Midwest this coming holiday weekend.
This storm has the potential to cause significant travel impacts. There is uncertainty in the track of the storm and how much cold air will interact with it across our region.
A more northern track will result in rain and a few thunderstorms, while a southern track could bring the first measurable snowfall to parts of the forecast area.
As of this time, the forecast is not indicating the storm. The forecast for Friday night is calling for rain likely with a low of 44 and then rain likely on New Year’s Day with a high of 53.
