SSM Health Changing Illinois Visitor Policy Thursday

SSM Health Changing Illinois Visitor Policy Thursday

MT. VERNON – Beginning Thursday, Jan. 6, SSM Health in Illinois announced it will change its visitation policy at all local care sites – allowing one support person, per day to visit.

Citing health and safety of their patients and employees due to an increase in the spread of COVID-19 throughout the community, SSM said rotating additional guests in patient rooms will not be allowed.

Obstetrics patients will be allowed two designated people to offer support for the duration of their stay. COVID and patients under investigation for COVID will still be under a strict, no visitors policy. Pediatric patients will be allowed up to two designated visitors.

Visitors must be 18 years or older and are allowed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

All guests visiting an SSM Health facility are required to follow their policies, including:

• Wearing approved face coverings, even when in the patient room.

• All individuals must be screened for symptoms upon arrival.

• Everyone must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving a patient’s room.

• Always stay at least six feet away from the patient (social distance).

The heathcare company noted they will continue to adjust their policy and will make decisions rooted in safeguarding their patients, visitors, caregivers and the community at-large.
