Carbondale Police Investigating Two Gunfire Incidents

CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police have made an arrest in connection to two related shots-fired reports.

According to Carbondale Police, officers responded around 4 a.m. Friday, to the area of E. Cindy St. and S. Wall St. in reference to a report of shots fired.  

During the course of the investigation, officers learned a suspect fired several shots from a vehicle, described as a small SUV, at another vehicle in traffic. The occupants of the vehicles were acquaintances and eventually crashed into one another.

The SUV was last seen driving east on E. Walnut St. from S. Wall St. and damage was discovered at two homes as a result of the shots fired. No injuries were reported. 

Officers also investigated reports of shots fired in the areas of West Walnut Street and South Maple Street. Officers discovered damage to a home in the 200 block of South Maple Street as a result of the incident. No injuries were reported. The investigation revealed that the two shooting incidents are related.  

Officers Friday arrested a juvenile offender for weapons offenses related to both incidents.
