MURPHYSBORO – The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Broadband awarded Jackson County with an Accelerate Illinois Broadband Infrastructure Planning Program Grant.
According to a press release, the grant opportunity will prepare the County with the resources needed to provide Broadband to Jackson County with the aid of American Rescue Plan funds. Additionally, officials said the skills and information will provide Jackson County with a more competitive application for the Illinois Broadband Grant Program which can bring up to $5 million in broadband infrastructure to Jackson County.
The Accelerate Illinois program seeks to provide selected Illinois communities with intensive technical assistance resources and programming to engage in community broadband planning and capacity building for improved broadband infrastructure.
