Illinois Attorney General Reveals Proposal to Fight Organized Retail Crime

(IOCI RADIO) – Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul unveiled a new proposal to fight organized crime.

Legislation from Raoul and the Illinois Retail Merchants Association would expand the ability of prosecutors and the Attorney General’s office to pursue crime rings. He said the thefts are not isolated incidents, but part of an organized effort.

The measure also would provide funding for the Attorney General’s office and State’s Attorney’s to specifically investigate retail theft and require victims to be notified at least seven days in advance of any court proceedings.
