(IOCI RADIO) – The Illinois State Police (ISO) is set to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
Friday, April 1 will mark the centennial anniversary for ISP. The agency began with a few troopers who were charged with making sure heavy trucks didn’t damage newly built roads.
ISP Director Brendan Kelly said the agency didn’t have squad cars then.
Today, ISP has more than 2,900 employees, including over 1,800 sworn officers and a boarder mission, including criminal investigations and DNA testing.
