MT. VERNON – Continental Tire is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for multiple bomb threats made recently toward their Mt. Vernon facility.
According to the company, two bomb threats in the last few weeks forced evacuation of the plant. Both times the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Secretary of State’s Office were notified. They found the threats were found to not be credible and employees were allowed to return to work.
Continental Tire said they will now increase various security measures so people should be prepared for delays when entering the facility.
The company noted the bomb threats are a federal offense and said they will pursue legal measures. They also announced a reward of $5,000 is being offered for the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the bomb threats.
