Mt. Vernon Police Make Arrest Related to Bomb Threats

MT. VERNON – Mt. Vernon police have made an arrest following an investigation to recent bomb threats in the area.

According to the Mt. Vernon Police Department (MVPD), 21-year-old Raymond Needy was arrested Tuesday on five counts of Aggravated Disorderly Conduct Make False Bomb Report.

The investigation that led to Needy’s arrest was the result of bomb threats made to Continental Tire, Walmart, and Dollar Tree over the past month.

MVPD thanked Continental Tire and Walmart for their assistance into the investigation and recognized Detectives Justin Osborn and Bob Kane for their successful investigation. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office assisted and worked in conjunction with MVPD on the investigation.

Needy was charged Wednesday in Jefferson County Court with six Class 1 felony counts of making a false terrorism threat.
