Illinois Law to Extend Workable Hours for Substitute Teachers

(IOCI RADIO) – Gov. J.B. Pritzker has signed a new law to help address the shortage of substitute teachers in Illinois.

The law, sponsored by Naperville Rep. Janet Yang-Rohr, extends the numbers of hours a retired teacher can work as a substitute without it affecting their pension by 20 school days. It applies to the current school year through the end of June.

The law is immediately effective.
