AVA – A man is facing charges after Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in the rural Ava area shortly before two Tuesday afternoon for an alleged aggravated domestic battery.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect fled from the scene before deputies arrived. Deputies searched the area extensively with the use of a drone, a K-9 unit from the Carbondale Police Department and a fixed wing airplane from the Illinois State Police, eventually locating the suspect shortly after 9 p.m.
After the investigation, the suspect, identified as Ryan Owens, was arrested for Aggravated Domestic Battery Great Bodily Harm, Aggravated Battery and Interfering with the Report of Domestic Violence. Owens was taken to and lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
