Wayne County Crash Sends Two to Hospital

WAYNE – A three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Wayne County sends two people to the hospital.

According to Illinois State Police, a 2017 green International 3-axle truck driven by 41-year-old James L. Riley of Ramsey, a SUV driven by 40-year-old Tricia A. Coleclasure of Flora and a Jeep driven by 49-year-old Ericka L. Spicer of Louisville, Ill. were all traveling north on U.S. 45 at County Road 2250 North when Spicer was stopped so she could make a left-hand turn. Colclasure safely stopped behind Spicer.

For an unknown reason, Riley failed to stop and struck the rear of Colclasure’s SUV. Due to the impact, Colclasure then struck the rear of Spicer’s Jeep.

Colclasure and Spicer were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Riley reported no injured on scene.

Riley was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. He reported no injuries on-scene.

One lane of U.S. 45 was closed for two hours.
