BENTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake will close Rend Lake Dam Road to all through traffic Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. so engineers can perform a routine periodic inspection of the Rend Lake Main Dam and Spillway Bridge.
Periodic inspections are conducted every two years on all bridges at Rend Lake, which are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In the event of bad weather, the inspection may be moved to Thursday, May 19.
Access to the South Marcum Recreation Area, Spillway Recreation Area, and the Dedication Lot on the east end of the Rend Lake Dam will remain open. Officials advised to watch for closure signs at Sugar Creek parking lot and the west entrance to the Rend Lake Dam.
