MARION – The public is invited to welcome back local veterans who went on today’s Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. back from their trip tonight during a Welcome Home Celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. at Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois in Marion.
The flight is set to arrive back in Marion at 8:10 p.m.
Organizers said parking will not be available at the airport, so those interested will need to take a shuttle bus from Cornerstone Church, Sam’s Club or Community of Faith Church. Buses will run every 20 minutes beginning at 5 p.m.
All events are outdoors. Restrooms will be available. Lawn chairs are recommended. Food trucks will be available starting at 5 p.m. There will also be live entertainment.
Attendees are encouraged to bring Welcome Home banners and flags to the ceremony and wear patriotic attire.
