(IOCI RADIO) – Gov. J.B. Pritzker Friday announced $15 million in tourism grants.
$10 million has already been awarded through a new state program to support exhibits, festivals and attractions around the state with the John R. and Eleanor Mitchell Foundation receiving $182,000 for capital improvements at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mt. Vernon, including ADA upgrades, sculpture preservation, and building renovations.
Now an additional $15 million is up for grabs. Pritzker said it has been “important to support an industry hit so hard by the pandemic.”
Grants are funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and applications for this second round, which will prioritize downstate communities, are now being accepted via the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s website.
