CARBONDALE – Poplar Camp Beach in Carbondale is back open for your enjoyment.

According to a City of Carbondale press release, extensive water sampling and analysis have confirmed that the water quality at the beach has returned to normal, well within the safe range as per the latest guidelines provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Following a temporary closure due to increased bacteria levels, the City took immediate action to investigate and rectify the situation. Rigorous testing was conducted since last week, closely monitoring the water quality at Poplar Camp Beach. The latest test results have indicated a significant improvement, meeting and surpassing the safety requirements set by regulatory bodies.
