MARION – Two people were recently cited, one for having fentanyl, after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies saw the vehicle they were in commit a traffic violation on Illinois 13 west of I-57 in Marion.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, deputies stopped the driver, identified as Amanda B. Prince, and her passenger, identified as Adam M. Calvert.
Prince was not able to provide proof of insurance and did not have her driver’s license.
While completing a citation, a sheriff’s office K9 unit arrived on scene and performed a free air sniff of the vehicle. The deputy said the K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.
Prince and Calvert were asked to get out of the vehicle. While searching Calvert’s person, deputies located a white plastic bottle containing approximately 1.74 grams of a white powdery substance and multiple pink capsules – weighing approximately 10.14 grams -which later field tested positive for the presence of fentanyl.
Calvert was cited for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Prince was cited for Failure To Signal When Required and Operating Uninsured Vehicle.
Calvert was taken to and lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
