MT. VERNON – We now know more about how a non-injury crash involving a car and semi-truck happened around noon Thursday in the construction zone on northbound I-57 near Mt. Vernon.

According to Illinois State Police, 75-year-old Gary E. Hall of Centralia was going north in the right lane near mile marker 88 when he passed a semi-truck on the right. The semi, driven by a 25-year-old man from Saint Cloud, Minnesota, was also heading north.
