State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) has passed legislation suggested by the Department of Military Affairs dealing with the armory in West Frankfort.

The property has been under the authority of West Frankfort since 2024.  In August 2025, the Mayor of West Frankfort notified the Department of Military Affairs that the City no longer has the financial means to accept the property.

The measure was approved unanimously in the House and now heads to the Senate for consideration.
