MARION – A reported shooting led to soft lockdowns at Longfellow Elementary School, Marion Junior High and Marion High School Friday morning.

According to Marion Police, they received a report around 10:50 a.m. that a 20-year-old man was being treated at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in Marion for a gunshot wound to the upper arm. Police went to the hospital and interviewed the man and determine if, when and where the shooting happened.

Police were initially told about a possible incident on Castellano Drive leading to the soft lockdown at the three schools as a precautionary measure. It was quickly determined the shooting did not happen on Castellano Drive but allegedly happened in the 400 block of Cline Street where the victim lived. Police went there and didn’t find any evidence the victim described.

The victim was treated and released from Deaconess two hours later. The hospital was also placed on a brief lockdown during this time.
