ZEIGLER – A house fire was reported in Zeigler Wednesday morning.

According to the Zeigler Fire Department, the fire happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. A man who lived in the home was able to get out after he was alerted by a smoke detector.

When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were coming from the living room side of the home.

Firefighters contained the flames to one side of the home, but there was significant fire, smoke and water damage to the home.

It’s believed the home is a total loss and is not considered suspicious. The state fire marshal is investigating.

Several fire departments from around the Zeigler area were called in to help.
