MARION – The annual VA2K Run Walk Roll will be held on Thursday, May 16, at the Marion VA Medical Center in Marion and at the Evansville VA Clinic.

The purpose of this event is to inspire VA employees and community members to incorporate healthy activity into their workday while also raising funds and collecting items like food, toiletries and clothing to help struggling and homeless veterans.

Seiger Giroux is the Employee Whole Health Coordinator at the Marion VA. He says this event has been around for some time and about 3 million donations have been collected. Giroux says last year 4,000 donations were made locally with a couple of hundred participating.

The event will also feature live music, a food truck, and Giroux says they will be “Stuffing a Bus” with donations. You can also make a virtual donation at pay.gov/public/form/start/50728406/. You should choose Food Pantry for Program for Donation and Marion VA Medical Center for the Facility.

Giroux says you don’t have to sign up beforehand to be a part of VA2K, just show up.

Besides the VA2K, there will be a Marion VA Health Fair where veterans can come and speak with internal departments, get some resources, and learn about some things the Marion VA offers that they may have never heard about before.
